Description: This layer depicts the current 2014 Motorist Assistance Patrol (MAP) Areas of the Louisiana Department of Transportation. DOTD assists motorists and improved traffic flow through its contracted Motorist Assistance Patrol (MAP) services. Providing free services to stranded motorists in Baton Rouge (I-10, I-12 and I-110), New Orleans (I-10 and I-610), Lake Charles (I-10 and I-210), and Shreveport-Bossier City (I-20, I-49, I-220, and LA 3132), MAP both reduces traffic congestion caused by stalled vehicles and provides safety and comfort to those stranded. With an average of 600 motorists assisted each week, DOTD has helped thousands of Louisiana interstate travelers over the past few years.
