Description: The layers in this map depict the 2010 proposed Urban Area boundaries, based on the 2010 US Census data.
These represent a "smoothed" or "adjusted" boundary, based on the US Census defined Urban Cluster (UC) boundaries. For the purposes of this dataset, only UCs with a population of 5,000 to 49.999 are included. These modifications are performed to account for irregularities and to allow for the addition of low population density areas that serve the urban population which may have been excluded by the US Census when creating the UC. The smoothed, adjusted boundary contains all of the US Census defined boundaries and are created in cooperation with various local and regional government organizations.
